Question 1

How much does a new playground cost in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

Costs vary widely. A small playground (< 100sqm) with basic equipment and EPDM surfacing typically starts at S$40,000–S$80,000. A medium-sized condominium playground (200–500sqm) typically ranges from S$100,000 to S$250,000. Large or custom installations can exceed S$500,000. Contact us for a free site visit and quotation.

Question 2

How much does EPDM resurfacing cost in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

EPDM resurfacing typically costs S$80–S$160 per sqm for supply and installation, inclusive of removal of the old surface. Total project cost depends on the area to be resurfaced and any sub-base preparation required.

Question 3

Can MCST use the sinking fund for playground renovation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Playground upgrades and renovations are capital improvements appropriately funded from the MCST's sinking fund under Singapore's BMSMA. Maintenance and repair work (like-for-like) can typically be funded from the maintenance fund. Works above defined thresholds require general meeting approval.

Question 4

Do you provide quotations suitable for MCST approval?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide formal, detailed quotations with full specification breakdowns, suitable for MCST council and general meeting submissions. We can also provide 3D visualisations to support resident presentations.

Question 5

What safety standards apply to playgrounds in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

SS 457 is Singapore’s playground safety standard, aligned with EN 1176 for playground equipment and EN 1177 for impact-attenuating surfacing.

Question 6

Do you provide SS 457 and EN 1176 compliance certificates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All our playground installations include a post-installation inspection and SS 457 and EN 1176 compliance certificate, which is provided at handover and is suitable for submission to building management, NEA, or regulatory authorities.

Question 7

How often should a playground be inspected?

Accepted Answer

Best practice under SS 457 and EN 1176 recommends three levels of inspection: routine visual inspection (weekly), operational inspection (monthly), and annual main inspection by a qualified inspector. We offer annual inspection contracts.

Question 8

What happens if our EPDM surfacing no longer meets the Critical Fall Height requirement?

Accepted Answer

Non-compliant surfacing must be repaired or replaced promptly. The playground should be cordoned off until compliant surfacing is in place. Operating a playground with non-compliant surfacing exposes the operator to significant liability under the Occupiers Liability Act.

Question 9

How long does a playground installation take?

Accepted Answer

A standard playground installation (equipment + EPDM surfacing, 200–500sqm) typically takes 3–6 weeks from contract award to completion, including equipment procurement, fabrication, installation, and surfacing cure time. Larger or custom projects may take longer.

Question 10

Do you handle the full project from design to handover?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide a full turnkey service — from initial site visit and concept design through to engineering, fabrication, installation, compliance certification, and handover documentation.

Question 11

Do you offer free site visits?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer complimentary site visits and needs assessments across Singapore with no obligation. Contact us to book a site visit at a time that suits you.

Question 12

Can we see examples of your completed projects?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Visit our portfolio page to see completed playground projects across schools, condominiums, HDB estates, and public parks in Singapore.

Question 13

What MCST approval is needed for a playground upgrade?

Accepted Answer

Under Singapore's BMSMA, routine maintenance can typically be approved by the council. Upgrading works (adding new features, replacing with higher specification) require a general meeting resolution. Major capital works above the threshold in your MCST's by-laws may require a special resolution (75% majority).

Question 14

How do we get residents to approve a playground upgrade at the AGM?

Accepted Answer

Clear communication and visual materials help. We can provide 3D rendered visualisations, detailed cost breakdowns, and reference project photos that help council members present the case effectively to residents at general meetings.

Question 15

Do you work with managing agents?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work closely with managing agents throughout Singapore on behalf of their MCST clients. Managing agents are welcome to contact us to discuss their clients' playground requirements.

Question 16

Is a fitness corner upgrade subject to the same MCST approval process?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Fitness corner installations and upgrades are treated as capital improvements under BMSMA and subject to the same approval and funding requirements as playground works.

Question 17

What is EPDM rubber surfacing?

Accepted Answer

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is the standard playground safety surfacing material in Singapore. It provides impact attenuation to reduce injury severity from falls, slip resistance, UV and weather resistance, and durability in Singapore's tropical climate.

Question 18

How thick does EPDM need to be?

Accepted Answer

EPDM thickness is determined by the Critical Fall Height (CFH) of the playground equipment. Typical minimum thickness is 40mm for equipment up to 1.5m CFH, increasing to 80–100mm+ for taller equipment. Your contractor should calculate the required depth for your specific equipment.

Question 19

What playground equipment materials do you use?

Accepted Answer

We use high-quality HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), powder-coated galvanised steel, marine-grade stainless steel hardware, and UV-stabilised components — all selected to withstand Singapore's tropical climate.

Question 20

Do you offer eco-friendly or recycled rubber surfacing options?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer recycled rubber crumb surfacing options alongside virgin EPDM. Recycled rubber is an environmentally responsible choice and can be appropriate for some applications. Our team can advise on the best option for your project.
